Nobody Throws Shade Better Than Austin Native Masonry

There’s nothing wrong with throwing a little shade around here, especially during the hot Texas summers! Of course, I’m talking about that cool, sweet, blessed shade everybody welcomes once the temperature starts to climb. (I like sass as much as anyone, but that’s a different blog post…)
A shade structure in your yard will provide your landscape some relief from the blazing sun, and can make the temperature feel as much as 10-15 degrees cooler. A landscape feature such as a shaded pergola combined with a paved surface (pictured) is a great place to keep your grill, hot tub, or container garden.

When built against your home, a shade structure will not only expand your living space, it can also protect your siding from the elements and help lower your cooling costs (especially on Western-facing walls). The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that “shading your home can reduce indoor temperatures by as much as 20ºF,” particularly when combined with well-placed shade trees and other vegetation.
You’ll have more room to relax and entertain, and your plants and pets will thank you!

From pergolas to covered decks and patios - or something more creative - shade structures are a practical investment you’ll enjoy year-round. We would love to create a custom design just for you! For more information or to request a free consultation, contact us here .
